How does Amazon Go work?
Our checkout-free shopping experience is made possible by the same types of technologies used in self-driving cars: computer vision, sensor fusion, and deep learning. Just Walk Out Technology automatically detects when products are taken from or returned to the shelves and keeps track of them in a virtual cart. When you’re done shopping, you can just leave the store.

We created the world’s most advanced shopping technology so you never have to wait in line. Amazon Go was the first store to open with Just Walk Out Technology. Our checkout-free shopping experience is made possible by the same types of technologies used in self-driving cars: computer vision, sensor fusion, and deep learning. Just Walk Out Technology automatically detects when products are taken from or returned to the shelves and keeps track of them in a virtual cart. When you’re done shopping, you can just leave the store. Later, we’ll send you a receipt (if an Amazon linked account was used to shop) and charge your Amazon account. How do I shop Amazon Go?
All you need is an Amazon account, the free Amazon Shopping app, and a recent-generation iPhone or Android phone. You can find the Amazon Shopping app in the Apple App Store, Google Play, and Amazon Appstore. When you arrive, open the app, tap “In-Store Code,” and scan in with the QR code presented. Just browse and shop like you would at any other store. Once you’re done shopping, you’re on your way. No lines, no checkout. You can also enter the store by using a credit card or by using Amazon One. Amazon One is a fast, convenient, contactless way for people to use their palm to enter and pay for items purchased at Amazon Go. You can learn more about Amazon One here.
Can I shop the store with my family and friends?
Of course! Simply use the In-Store Code in your Amazon Shopping app to scan once for your group to enter. If you’re entering Amazon Go using an Amazon linked credit card or Amazon One, a single scan is also sufficient for the group. Everyone can then shop the store like normal. Any items taken off the shelf by family or friends who entered the store using your entry form will be added to your virtual cart. If they return any items back to the shelf while in the store, those items will be removed from your virtual cart.
Do I earn Stars at Starbucks Pickup + Amazon Go?
Yes, Starbucks® Rewards members will earn stars on all eligible purchases made through the Starbucks® app. Stars will not be earned for purchases made in the Amazon Go market.
How will I pay for Amazon Go market products that I eat in the lounge?
Products taken off the shelf at the Amazon Go market will be added to your virtual cart and your card will be charged when you leave.
Can I pay for my Starbucks Pickup purchase with my Amazon app?
No, Starbucks® Pickup purchases can only be made with the Starbucks® app. The Amazon Shopping app can only be used for Amazon Go market purchases.
